Kitchari is a nourishing comfort food made of easily digestible split mung beans, long grain white rice, and anti-inflammatory spices that assist in cleansing the digestive system and building immunity. Our blend of cooling spices adds incredible flavor to this satisfying dish that is great for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

SPLIT YELLOW MUNG DAL

Sweet, cooling, and easily digestible, split yellow mung dal is a staple in a balanced Ayurvedic diet.

 

LONG-GRAIN WHITE RICE

Light and easy to digest, long-grain white rice helps to balance all three doshas.

 

CILANTRO

This aromatic herb improves digestion, purifies, and helps to cool the systems of the body.

 

CORIANDER

Coriander helps to soothe indigestion and eliminate natural toxins.

 

FENNEL

Beneficial for all three doshas, fennel improves abdominal discomfort and helps to diffuse gas build-up. Fennel can also aid in soothing heart burn and indigestion.

In a medium saucepan, add 1 tbsp of Farmtrue ghee and the contents of the spice packet. Stir until fragrant – do not burn.

 

INSTRUCTIONS:

Add any desired chopped vegetables to pan and sauté for 1-2 minutes.

Add rice/bean mixture and 5 cups of water; bring to a boil. For soup like consistency, add 1-2 more cups of water.

Cover and reduce heat to low. Stir occasionally.

Simmer 20-30 minutes or until rice and beans are tender and soupy.

Add salt and pepper to taste. Top with fresh parsley. Stir lightly and serve hot.
